Portrait Harald Schnitzler

Harald Schnitzler graduated as a PhD in physics in 2011 at the University of Constance, publishing in the segment of quantum optics.

Harald then started with Leica Microsystems working in the field of industrial optical design, where he was responsible for the optical system planning, design and adaptation for production.

He feels at home with all kinds of optical technologies and the optical design of zoom systems and microscopes, and has a vast knowledge in detailed tolerance simulations to create opto-mechanical solutions.

Harald Schnitzler started with Feinwerkoptik Zünd in 2018 as CTO and is responsible for the system development and planning of our customers and is therefore one of the major contact persons.

My key concern is to accompany our customer through all the stages from development to production,” he says. In his everyday work Harald creates system concepts, optical designs and analyses for product and process optimization.

About our customers and partners

Our optical components are particular, individualized parts that always belong to a larger product. For example, we develop and produce a lens for an endoscope, which is installed in an assembly. But how does that cooperation work?

How an image is created from optical components

Endoscopes make it possible to look inside the body without performing major invasive procedures. But how does an endoscope work? René Zünd explains which optical components are necessary and what task they fulfil.

The Future of Cameras in Medicine

Minimally invasive interventions are standard in many medical fields – from knee arthroscopies to colonoscopies. They require using ultra-modern, tiny cameras that provide insights into the body. Feinwerkoptik Zünd is an expert in developing and producing these cameras, especially their lenses. CEO René Zünd tells us how the use of cameras in medicine could develop in the future with even more advanced technology. So how small can cameras become?

Over 20 years of experience
